Summer Antelope Island Engagement with Cheryl & Matt

Summer Antelope Island Engagement with Cheryl & Matt

The Summer Antelope Island Engagement with Cherlyn & Matt was perfect! When people ask me why I shoot so many Antelope island engagements when it is so far away from me, I tell them to just look at the pictures, and that answers there question.

Antelope Island has so much variety, beautiful colors, and great backgrounds, its like being in 10 different locations at once. From beautiful sunsets, to grand vistas, to mountains, to fields of wild grass, to a vast expanse of water, to docks, interesting rock formations, wild Bison, antelope, and much more. The only thing Antelope island does not have is trees. Ok, well, it has about ten scrub oak trees, but that's about it.

When I spoke to Cherlyn about what she wanted, she was pretty easy going and her only request was a great sunset. I told her I would do my best but that the weather really changes all the time and you never know if you will get a bright pink sky, a simple orange sunset, or clouds and no sunset at all. So its always a chance that you will not get a beautiful sunset, but you will always get a large variety of beautiful backgrounds.

But when Cherlyn & Matt arrived at the island, it was very cloudy and looked like rain. I know from experience that weather can change within 20 minutes or less, so I told her to keep her fingers crossed for a good sunset, as we went to other locations on the island to get the pre-sunset shots.

My hopes were starting to fade as we were about 30 minutes from sunset, with no change in the weather, when the wind picked up and in about 10 minutes blew the storm off to the north end of the lake. The sky was beautiful, and I had a feeling it was going to be a special sunset.

As you can see by the pictures, it was a spectacular sunset with red, orange and pink and every color in-between. So our Antelope Island engagement was a success and Cherlyn got one of the best sunsets I have ever seen on the island.
