I have done Utah State Capitol Bride & Groom Sessions many times before, especially in the winter time when the weather outside is less than perfect. But today was the first time I got to go into the back areas of the state capitol, and wow, what a place!
When Harry & Andrea asked me to shoot a Utah State Capitol Bride & Groom Session with them, I was kind of hoping they would change their mind. After all, the weather had been OK a week earlier and there are so many beautiful places in Utah to shoot outside. I had already done their engagement pictures at the American Fork amphitheater earlier in the year so I knew they were going to be a fun couple to photograph. But what was different this time was one of the locations inside the State capitol.
Harry works for the Government, so he go to use a special room that most of us never get to see. The room was amazing! The furniture and decor reminded me of pictures I have seen of the 1950's. We used natural light coming in from the windows on a few of the shots, and bounce flash on the rest to light up their faces.
Andrea looked stunning in her dress from Fantasy Bridal! As she walked down the steps of the capitol Rotunda, she looked like what I would imagine an angel floating down from heaven would look like. And she was worried about what Harry would think of the dress? I can tell you that by the look on his face, he loved it! (and the girl in it of course).
Harry is an amazing guy. Funny, friendly, and smart. If he ever runs for governor of this great state, I will be the first in line to vote for him.
