The Alpine Loop Scenic Byway in Utah is one of the most breathtaking locations for engagement photos, especially during the fall season when the leaves are ablaze with color. As a Utah Wedding Photographer, capturing the love story of Alexis and Tyler amidst this vibrant natural backdrop was truly a joy. Their engagement session, photographed by James of James Erick Photography, took us on a journey through five distinct locations along the byway, each offering unique and stunning scenery.
First Stop: Aspen Grove’s Golden Canopy
Our first location was just up the road from Aspen Grove, where we discovered a magical forest of yellow aspen trees in their prime. This year’s fall season has been unusual, with maple and scrub oak trees shedding their leaves early, but the aspen trees stood resilient, their golden leaves glowing in the sunlight. Alexis, with her striking red hair, complemented the fall colors perfectly in her green dress. Tyler, dressed in a crisp white polo shirt, black pants, and tennis shoes, provided a sharp and classic contrast.
Initially, Alexis and Tyler were a bit nervous, as engagement sessions can sometimes feel overwhelming at first. Having Alexis’s parents there added a layer of comfort, and soon enough, the couple was laughing and enjoying themselves. My favorite spot in this area was a trail that led through a tunnel of aspen trees, their yellow leaves forming a natural canopy that made for enchanting photos.
A Forest of Towering Aspens
Next, we stopped at a wide expanse of aspen trees that reached high into the sky. The grandeur of this location was awe-inspiring, and it provided the perfect setting for candid moments. I encouraged Alexis and Tyler to simply enjoy the walk, holding hands and soaking in the beauty of their surroundings. These genuine interactions made for some of the most heartfelt and natural photos of the session.
A Splash of Orange Against the Blue Sky
Our third stop was near a trailhead parking area, where the aspen trees had taken on a stunning orange hue. The deep blue sky above created a striking contrast, adding depth and vibrancy to the photos. Although the area was a bit crowded and parking was challenging, we managed to capture a few incredible shots before moving on. The warm, fiery tones of the trees were worth the quick stop, offering a different palette to add to the collection.
A Clearing with Short Aspens and Mountain Views
The final location was further down the road, where a clearing opened up to reveal short aspen trees with majestic mountain views in the background. This spot provided the perfect opportunity for a mix of close-up shots and wide, scenic portraits. The interplay of the intimate moments shared between Alexis and Tyler and the grandeur of the mountains created a beautiful balance in the photographs.
Capturing Love Amidst Nature’s Splendor
Throughout the session, Alexis and Tyler’s love for each other shone brightly. They held hands, shared smiles, and fully embraced the beauty of the Alpine Loop Scenic Byway. Their willingness to relax and enjoy the process made it easy to capture authentic moments. Alexis’s vibrant hair and elegant green dress, paired with Tyler’s classic attire, added a timeless quality to the images.
As a Utah Wedding Photographer, it’s always a privilege to work in such picturesque locations, and the Alpine Loop Scenic Byway never disappoints. From golden aspens to fiery orange leaves and breathtaking mountain views, this engagement session showcased the diverse beauty of Utah in the fall. Alexis and Tyler’s journey through these stunning landscapes is a testament to how love and nature come together to create something truly unforgettable.
