The Winter Sundance Engagement with Hailey & Brendon was so much fun! Yes, it was very cold, about 23 degrees. I call this area of Sundance the Freezer, because it is high up and surrounded on three sides by high mountains, making it very cold. But at the same time it is also very beautiful, so if you can hack the cold, you get some amazing views.
We started off at the base of the mountains in a place called Aspen Grove. This time of year, you have to be very careful. There are avalanche warnings all over the place, and I know personally how dangerous they can be. A few years earlier, My clients and i just missed being swept up in one, and though they thought it was fun, I knew we had just avoided a disaster.
We worked our way up the trail to the left up the side of the mountain. From there there is w water tower that you can stand on to get some beautiful views of the surrounding area. But on the way up there are pretty views of the forest surrounding the trail with snow covered trees and a kind of misted look. There is one large tree that has fallen over the path that you can walk under, but in the summer its a great shot having your clients walk on it(not when it has ice on it).
Hailey and Brendon were a lot of fun to work with, and I cant wait to shoot ther upcoming wedding!
