Fall Bonneville Salt Flats Elopement with Carly & Dan

Fall Bonneville Salt Flats Elopement with Carly & Dan

I was worried about the Fall Bonneville Salt Flats Elopement with Carly & Dan before the shoot started. I had arrived about two hours early first to make sure there were no traffic problems, and second to scout out the best locations to take pictures.

I had been to the salt flats a few times before, but it does change from year to year, so I wanted to make sure I knew the best places to take pictures. But when I arrived my heart sank. There was so much smoke in the air from the wildfires in California, that you could barely see the mountains in the background. It was a white sky with a white ground. Terrible.

But as I started to scout for places for Carly and Dan to do their elopement, the sky slowly started to clear up, a little. I was very happy to find a large puddle of water near the gap in the two areas of the Bonneville Salt Flats, which I knew that if the sky cleared up more, would give an amazing reflection. So, after scouting out a few spots, I waited....and waited. By the time Carly & Dan arrived the sky had cleared up to about 60% of what it normally looks like. That was good enough to shoot in.

Carly is from England, and Dan from the US. They met abroad and fell in love. But because of the Corona virus, they could not do a normal wedding with lots of guests. So, they eloped at the Salt Flats in utah. I could not even post these pictures because nobody even knew they were getting married until after they were already married.

Carly & Dan were awesome to work with, and I still have a post wedding Engagement session to shoot for them at Bridal Veil Valls which I am very much looking forward to.

The pictures above are just a very few of my favorites from the Fall Bonneville Salt Flats Elopement with Carly & Dan. Enjoy!
