Winter Mcpolin Farm Bride and Groom Session with Natalie & Joe

Winter McPolin Farm Bride and Groom Session with Natalie & Joe

By Utah Wedding Photographers James Erick Photography Utah

When Natalie & Joe asked me to shoot a Winter McPolin Farm Bride and Groom session in the middle of winter, I thought they were crazy. Swaner farm is Located near Park City, Utah, and at this time of year the temperatures can get down to ten degrees. Today it was a little warmer at 23 degrees. I was wearing a heavy jacket and a sweater under that, ski pants, and boots. And I was still cold because my hands and face were freezing. Unfortunately they have not come up with a pair of warm gloves that let you use a professional camera, but if they did I would be the first in line to buy them. And wearing a ski mask while taking pictures of a bride and groom just did not seem right. So I froze.

But if Natalie & Joe were freezing, I could not tell, I guess besides the fact that their faces and hands were turning red! I had to do a lot of post editing to take a lot of the red out. And one of the biggest challenges besides trudging through the snow was that when its really cold outside, when people breathe, you can see the steam coming out of their mouth, so you have to ask them to hold their breath before each shot for a few seconds.

Challenges aside, Natalie & Joe were amazing to work with and we had a lot of fun slipping and sliding around the trails during the Swaner farm Bride and Groom session. I guess their love for each other must have kept them warm, because they were all smiles
